I still remember the days of sitting in the back of my Grandparents car and listening to talk radio. Back then I thought it was boring and something only the elderly would do…

Man have times changed. Back in 2005 when Apple iTunes started supporting podcasts, who knew it would become such a rich and diverse form of media? I look back at my young self and giggle, because now, my days are consumed with podcasts. I listen to them on my way to work, at work, on my way home, while I’m doing random chores, walking, and even before bed. There is really something to be said for a form of media that can completely take you to another place to learn or even just listen to opinions.

I ventured out to put together this list for our Bushel followers, but I found some new shows to listen to as well!

Here is the Bushel Team’s most frequented Podcasts.

Bushel users, What is your favorite podcast?

Alex is a Software Developer and the latest addition to the Bushel development team. He spends most of his time alternating between sitting and coding then standing and coding. He wouldn’t have it any other way.

Alex is an introvert and has played on a professional sports team: http://www.windchillultimate.com/ (sure it was Ultimate Frisbee, but the title is what counts). You can always tell when he’s concentrating because his tongue is sticking out…

First Computer:
Macintosh Performa CD – Growing up I always felt like the last one to get cool toys, like getting a Nintendo right around when the SNES was coming out, same went for this guy.

Most Critical App On My Phone:
Clash of Clans – The game isn’t going to just play itself!

Best Part of JAMF:
Culture – Everyone here is committed to doing things right and providing the best. Makes me feel good.

Favorite Comic Book Character:
Batman – This requires no explanation.

Spirit Animal:
I’m as confused about this question as the readers… Can my spirit animal be Batman?

Favorite Joke:
Q: How many Smurfs does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: Two, but don’t ask me how they got in there!

We write a lot of code, spend a lot of time reviewing analytics and stare at screens a lot in general. And when we do that, we’re often listening to music. Ever wonder what? Each of our team members submitted five songs, and we built out a fun little playlist.

Hope you pick up some new tunes! And extra credit if you try to match the #wearebushel profiles with the songs they contributed to the playlist!

Joel is the Senior Software Architect for Bushel. He is responsible for making the hard decisions about what we do with the back-end, from clustering of the web apps to libraries and solutions included, to the terrible refactoring of software that must be done from time to time.

Fun Facts:

  • I am married with 3 daughters. We also have a female dog and crayfish (don’t ask). Oh, and a male guinea pig.
  • I mostly think and daydream about fly fishing.
  • In 5th grade I was called to the principal’s office with no idea why. It turned out he wanted me to solve his Rubik’s cube. I was terrified the whole time.
  • I grew up in the same house from when I was born until I went to college.
  • I asked my wife if the first song at our wedding dance could be “Tainted Love”. I didn’t get the song, but she married me anyway.
  • I built a stand-up MAME machine about 7(?) years ago.

Sad Facts:

  • I can still solve the Rubik’s cube, but my old hands can only do it in about 2 minutes — way slower than my record of 52 seconds as a 10 year old.
  • My MAME machine is still not completed — and it never will be (probably). Also, I hardly ever play it. It is fully functional, however.

Favorite Foods:

  • Chipotle barbacoa burrito bowl.
  • Chipotle barbacoa burrito bowl.
  • Chipotle barbacoa burrito bowl.
  • Pizza. But only real pizza, none of that junk with macaroni or chicken on it (that’s not pizza).

Favorite trips:

  • San Diego with my parents, wife and daughters. Great weather, food, company. The beach, Sea World and zoo were favorites!
  • Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness trips. Nature, silence, beauty — can’t beat it.

Favorite joke:

  • (this is actually my 6 year old’s favorite joke): Q: Where do you find a dog with no legs? A: Right where you left him!

Favorite part about working here:

  • Charles. I don’t think there’s any need to say more!

Brian is a Software Engineer who contributes to the design and development of Bushel. Before accepting a role as a Senior Software Engineer on the Bushel team at JAMF Software, Brian had been working as a software engineer working on teleradiology and EHR systems. Brian grows a crazy-awesome mustache in November.

Fun facts:

  • Born in Brainerd, Minnesota and grew up in Port Washington, Wisconsin. Moved to Minnesota in 2011.
  • Go Pack Go!
  • Watches a bit too much of the Brewers on MLB.tv. Who wants to get things done in the summer anyway?
  • Would generally rather be snowboarding with his buddies than whatever he’s doing at the moment.
  • Has the world’s best foot to shoe ratio, holds the world record in long distance thinking while beering, and is 1997’s best-dressed pole-vaulter of the Grand Canyon.
  • Enjoys making weird things up.

Favorite foods:

  • Any form of seafood
  • Beer
  • Pizza
  • Something spicy
  • Whatever is put in front of him
  • Beer

Sad facts:

  • Could clothe a small army with winter/snowboarding gear but generally sticks to whatever looks the oddest in any given season.
  • Thoroughly enjoys astronaut ice cream.

First computer:

IBM clone 486 DX2 with four megabytes of RAM and a 25 megabyte hard drive.

The most used apps on your phone:

  • Google Maps – Useful from navigation to getting to your bus on time.
  • Evernote – Storing things in Evernote that you shouldn’t is just too easy.
  • Tune In Radio – Getting KEXP in your ears wherever you are is essential.
  • Spotify – For bookmarking that tune you just heard on KEXP.

Favorite part about working here:

To wake up and look forward to working with such passionate, funny, brilliant, and generally not too smelly people is such an amazing gift. The Bushel team is composed of some of the best people I’ve ever worked with and I am humbled to be working with them.

Favorite comic book character?

Matter-Eater Lad

Spirit animal?

Best vacation?

A tie between taking a camping tour around New Zealand and back country snowboarding with my buddies outside of Truckee.

Favorite joke?

A snail goes into a car dealership because he wants to buy a car.
The dealer asks the snail if sees something he likes.
The snail says “Yes, but I will only buy the car if you paint a big white ‘S’ on each side of the car.” The dealer is not sure and says he will have to sleep on it.
The snail comes back to the dealership the next day. The dealer says, “Good news, I will sell you the car, but only if you tell me why you want me to paint a big white ‘S’ on each side.”
The snail says “So that when I am driving by, people can point and say ‘Look at that S-car go!'”
